Belvidere Park District — Special Recreation

Overview

Northlands Association for Special Recreation (NASR) is a cooperative partnership between the Belvidere, Freeport, and Rockford Park Districts. NASR programs are open to any individual with disability-related special needs such as; physical, mental, and developmental disabilities and persons with mental illness, behavior disorders, and visual or hearing impairments.

New Horizons is an adult day, year round program for individuals ages 21 and older with disabilities.  The primary goal of the program is to encourage independence through leisure life skill based activities.  New Horizons meets five days a week from 9am-4pm and participates in a variety of activities to build up participant skill sets and provide them with community resources to further leisure independence.  Participants register for a two day a week session with an optional third day each week featuring a trip in the community.
